What is Mission Ready

Now is the time for members and missionaries to come together, to work together, to labor in the Lord’s vineyard to bring souls unto Him. He has prepared the means for us to share the gospel in a multitude of ways, and He will assist us in our labors if we will act in faith to fulfill His work.—President Thomas S. Monson, “Hastening the Work of Salvation,” Ensign, November 2013)

Since President Monson’s historic announcement lowering the age of missionary service, thousands of youth have responded to this prophetic call, and more full-time missionaries are serving than ever before. But the world does not simply need more missionaries—it needs young men and women to enter the mission field better prepared than ever before.

Perhaps you have asked yourself one of the following questions:

  • What is it like to serve a full-time mission?
  • Do I have what it takes to learn a foreign language?
  • I’m not sure a mission is for me? How will I decide?
  • What can I do to make my scripture study more effective?
  • How can I be a great companion?
  • As a missionary, what should I teach and how should I teach it?
  • What are ways I can share the gospel right now?

In an effort to help more youth be better prepared to share the gospel, we are excited to offer at Brigham Young University the first-ever missionary preparation program for youth: BYU Mission Ready!

This weeklong program will provide an unforgettable learning experience focused on doctrine, skills, and attributes that will help you become a successful missionary, combined with fun and uplifting social activities. Classes and workshops taught by returned missionaries will address the questions above and many other relevant topics. Be part of this exciting opportunity to strengthen your testimony, increase your knowledge of the scriptures, and gain the study habits and teaching skills necessary to share the gospel with confidence, now and in the future!
